AQUAFIX® C Concentrated Crystallized Water Insulation Material
A cement-based, crystallized powder mortar, made of specifically selected fine aggregate and concentrated chemicals which are activated by water and moisture. It is applied in positive and negative directions. It is more concentrated than AQUAFIX Crystallized Water Insulation Material. It can directly be applied on the concrete or as the first layer prior to AQUAFIX, to provide better penetration.

Description:

Application Areas:

Positive Water Pressure:
  • Water tanks and swimming pools,
  • Insulation of groundwork and curtain walls,
  • Dams and irrigation canals,
  • Sewer system pipes, concrete pipes, manholes and cisterns.
Negative Water Pressure:
  • Interior insulation of basement walls and grounds,
  • Exterior insulation of water tanks,
  • Retaining walls and elevator excavation,
  • Tunnels and subways,
  • Floors and horizontal joints.

Advantages:
  • Effective in both positive and negative water pressure.
  • It penetrates better to the concrete due to high amount and concentrated chemicals it contains.
  • Enables to ensure 100% coverage of the surface thanks to its red color.
  • Is integrated with the surface where it is applied, does not get ripped or pierced, and provides long lasting and complete water isolation.
  • At each contact with the water, it fills the capillary holes of the concrete with its crystallized structure and provides impermeability.

Preparation of the Surface:
  • The application surface must be clear of materials that prevent bonding, such as dust, oil, paint, curing agents, detergents, mold release oils, silicone, and should be moisturized.
  • Weak parts of the concrete must be repaired, plasters that are not adhering well must be removed, the surface must be shaped flat and sound, static cracks on the building must be repaired with plaster with AQUALATEX or REPAIRGROUT EXPAN High Strength Shrinkage Compensated Repair Mortar. Dynamic (moving) cracks must be repaired with PU 970 Polyurethane Sealant. The application surface must be saturated with water and must be kept moist during application.
Preparation of the Mortar:
  • 5 kg of AQUAFIX C Concentrated Crystallized Water Insulation Material is mixed with 1,8 liters of water for applications with brush and with 1,2 liters of water for applications with trowel preferably with a drill with low speed, until there are no lumps.
  • Always add water into AQUAFIX C first and prepare only the amount of material that can be consumed in 15 minutes. Bevel perpendicular corners appropriately.
Application Information:
  • There are three alternative types of application methods according to the application surface and the age of the the structure:
    1. Slurry (Mortar with Water):Applied on the moisturized surface with a brush in two layers that are perpendicular to each other. If requested slurry application can be made in one layer, on the second layer AQUAFIX can be used instead of the concentrated product. (After ensuring that the application surface is covered completely with the red color of the concentrated product, red colored layer is covered with the grey color of AQUAFIX on the second layer and the surface color becomes grey again.)
    2. Plaster: &Can be applied by adding to plaster of 5-10 mm thickness for very old concrete, brick wall or briquette surfaces.
    3. Dry Shake: In cold joint applications, AQUAFIX C can be sprinkled in powder form into the joints on horizontal surfaces.
  • Curing with water is very important after all types of application. Following the application, AQUAFIX C must be prevented to get dry quickly and kept moist for about 1 week.

Consumption
Slurry Positive water pressure….1 – 2 kg/m2 (on 2 layers)
Negative water pressure…2 kg/m2(on 2 layers)
Plaster 2 – 3 kg/m2 (on plaster with a thickness of 5 mm)
Dry Shake 1 kg/m2

Caution:
  • Avoid application in temperatures below +5°C and above +35°C.
  • Avoid application on frozen areas, on areas under risk of freezing in 24 hours or on areas open to direct sunlight or wind.
  • Never attempt to extend the expired mortar by adding powder and water.
  • Structures such as water tanks should be filled with water 24 hours after the last layer of AQUAFIX C application since water pressure speeds up crystal formation and penetration of AQUAFIX C into the concrete.

Shelf Life:
Unopened packages can be stored in dry environments for 12 months.

Health and Safety:
As with all chemical products, contact with food, skin, eyes and mouth should be avoided during usage and storing. If swallowed by accident, consult a doctor. In case of contact with skin, rinse with plenty of water. Must be kept out of reach of children. Wear protective gloves, glasses and clothes. Keep out of reach of children.

* Application instructions and technical data provided for the products are obtained in line with our experience and the tests we implemented according to international standards under ambient temperatures of 23±2°C and ambient relative humidity conditions of 50%±5. Higher temperatures decrease the times and lower temperatures increase them.
